Turning Point-Youth Improvement Award 2014
The latest statistics* show a fall in Hong Kong's overall, juvenile and youth crimes in the past year, due to success in prevention and detection. But can one ever completely break away from crime or drugs or inappropriate sexual behaviour? It certainly is not easy, but eight young people who have made the effort have been recognized by the Turning Point - Youth Improvement Award.

Of course there are regrets and lost years. "You cannot turn back life's clock," said KaKa, one of this year's winners. Once a young delinquent but now studying hotel management, she urges others to "grab opportunities when you can."

Another winner, Angel, says, "I was hooked on clubbing, drink and drugs. I know that if I hadn't had the support of my family, I would not have been able to turn my life around." Rocky, a past gang member concurs. "However hard it is to change, you're never alone. If you look around you'll find someone standing right beside you, helping you get back on your feet."

The Federation is committed to helping all youth at risk turn their lives around and urges you to do the same.

Last Saturday, 23 August, Commander of Police, Mr Tsang Wai-hung was Guest of Honour at the awards ceremony organized by the HKFYG Youth Crime Prevention Centre. Its other services include counselling, rehabilitation and advocacy.
