When C goes with G7: HKFYG's first movie
There is really nothing more satisfying that seeing the end result of a creative process. The Federation is passionate about encouraging and motivating young people to be imaginative, inspired and innovative through different media. That is why the first ever Federation movie, When C goes with G7, made by young people for young people, is so exciting, especially as it has been chosen as one of the movies to be screened at the 2013 Hong Kong Asia Film Festival.

When C goes with G7 was sponsored by the Dragon Foundation. Made by young people, the film will no doubt inspire others to take up the creative baton and follow in their footsteps at the HKFYG Jockey Club Media 21 (M21), which encourages innovation and imagination.

When C goes with G7 was directed by Lawrence Kan who won short video Hang Seng Bank - Chinese Youth Film Contest organized by HKFYG in 2011. Hong Kong Asia Film Festival Screenings are at The ONE - Broadway Circuit, at 7.30pm and 9.45pm, on Sunday 27 October, and at Broadway Cinemathèque at 7.40pm on Wednesday 30 October. There will be a charity screening on the evening of Monday 9 December at AMC Pacific Place. Public screenings at The ONE - Broadway Circuit begin on 10 December. HSBC Youth Business Award 2013
On 17 October the Guest of Honour at the awards ceremony for the HSBC Youth Business Award 2013 was ExCo member, The Honourable Jeffrey Lam Kin-fung, GBS, JP. This award, open to young entrepreneurs who have been in business for 1-5 years, is being organized for the third time this year by HKFYG's Youth Business Hong Kong (YBHK), with sponsorship from HSBC Commercial. The winners who took the Gold award were the tutoring and university application consultancy, CANA Academy Ltd. Dual Silver award winners were Chocolat-ier Ltd and Lab Made Ltd ice-cream. Merit award-winners were professional security services, Ensec Solutions Hong Kong Ltd, and frozen yogurt shop chain run by Just Perfect Company Ltd. A cappella heat wave in the city from now till end of November
Hong Kong International a Cappella Contest
The Hong Kong International a Cappella Contest, sponsored by The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, is now open for applications so the heat is on for the city's all-vocal groups. This year the Open Group Class has become international in scale and award-winning teams from across Asia will compete with top Hong Kong teams for the championship. Local schools will be competing in the Ensemble and School Vocal Band Classes. Hurry! The deadline for entries is this Saturday 26 October. Dialogue session on poverty with Chief Secretary Carrie Lam at HKFYG's M21
Hundreds of students and other young people will be taking part in an important dialogue session on poverty with the Chief Secretary for Administration, Mrs Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor, GBS, JP, on 4 November at the HKFYG Jockey Club Media 21 (M21) in Shek Pai Wan, Aberdeen. Young people in schools and the HKFYG Youth SPOTs around the city will also take part. The Federation is very glad they will have this chance to express their views on poverty alleviation at a time when the city has over 200,000 children under 18 who are officially considered to be poor. LEAD collaborates with the Hong Kong Science Museum on dinosaur workshops

The Federation's creativity education programme for Learning through Engineering, Art and Design, popularly known as LEAD, has been invited by the Hong Kong Science Museum to collaborate on Dinosaur Model Making Family Workshops at the largest-ever dinosaur exhibition to be held in Hong Kong. Called Legends of the Giant Dinosaurs, the exhibition will feature the workshops on Saturdays from November 2013 to March 2014. Participant families will learn about dinosaurs and geometry to create their very own 3D dinosaur models with 4DFrame, a multi-discipline learning tool approved by the Minister of Education, Republic of Korea, and introduced to Hong Kong by LEAD in 2012. HSBC Financial Dialogue Series 2013: kick off today with distinguished panel speakers
The HSBC Financial Dialogue Series, organized by HKFYG and sponsored by the Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Ltd, will kick off today, Thursday 24 October, in the HSBC Main Building in Central. 200 local university students and selected HSBC Scholars in finance, business and economics will take part in the series. Distinguished guest speakers include Prof Liu Ming-kang, Former Chairman, China Banking Regulatory Commission, and Mr Peter Wong Tung-shun, JP, Deputy Chairman and Chief Executive, HSBC. The moderator for the session, on the theme of the Renminbi's Role in the World Economy Going Forward, will be Mr George Leung Siu-kay, Advisor, Asia Pacific (Strategy & Economics), HSBC. M21 organizes Third Inter-School Internet Knowledge and Safety Quiz with Education Bureau, Office of the Government Chief Information Officer, Internet Society Hong Kong and Association of IT Leaders in Education
All secondary schools are eligible to enter a team of 3 students for this third Inter-school Internet Knowledge and Safety Quiz. The preliminary rounds are on Saturday 9 November at HKFYG Jockey Club Media 21 (M21) in Shek Pai Wan, Aberdeen, and the finals are on Monday 23 December at Discovery Park Shopping Centre, Tsuen Wan. Trophies, winners' certificates and cash prizes worth thousands of dollars will go to the Champion team and the First and Second Runners-up. Organized by M21, the quiz is supported by the Education Bureau, the Office of the Government Chief Information Officer, the Internet Society Hong Kong and the Association of IT Leaders in Education. HSBC inclusive community programme supports projects
at HKFYG Youth SPOTs & M21

The aim of this programme, on the theme of Stronger Families, Stronger Communities, is to foster a more inclusive society. HSBC is providing funding for 4 HKFYG Youth SPOT district-based initiatives and a HKFYG Jockey Club Media 21 (M21) project. Photography and video-making workshops are included in the programme and young participants also do voluntary work to reinforce the message in the community. Now available from the Youth Research Centre, issue number 32 of the HKFYG Journal of Youth Studies focuses on population policy and the needs and challenges faced by young people. There is discussion about education and career planning as well, given youth's increasing education levels and their role in long term development. Articles about challenges encountered by the young in ethnic minority groups in Hong Kong, mainland China, Taiwan are also included in this issue.
