Everyone enjoys a good film! While entertaining, films can also educate, stimulate and excite. The Federation, to encourage young people to discover more about Chinese history and culture, has arranged for a series of films to be shown during China Week 2013, from 3-9 July.
These films represent the spectrum of Chinese history, told through stories of tragedy and oppression, traditional arts and family optimism. They all reflect the values that make China what it is today.
We encourage all our friends and partners to come and join us during China Week 2013, and watch some truly special films.

Eminent Chinese artist speaks in 'M.E.D.I.A. Talks' on 10 July
MEDIA Talks is a new series to be held 3-4 times this year. Its aim is to inspire young people with the achievements and paths to success of well known local people in the fields of Media, Entrepreneurship, Design, Innovation and Art (M.E.D.I.A.). The first talk will be on Wednesday 10 July, 5-6.30 pm, 7/F, Theatre HKFYG Building, when Ms Cecilia Ho an internationally-known Chinese artist, will be the guest speaker. Cybercrime research press conference on 11 July at HKFYG with Dr Lennon Cheng of City University
Dr Lennon Chang Yao-chung of City University, and Mr Wilson Chan of HKFYG's Youth Crime Prevention Cemtre, will speak about the prevalence of cyber crime among youth, and factors which contribute to youth cyber crime, on Thursday 11 July at 11.45am at the HKFYG Building, 25/F. Recommendations for preventive education and intervention on cyber criminality will also be made at this press conference which will be of interest to the authorities, educators and the general public alike. Felix Wong Youth Improvement Award presentation ceremony with The Hon Matthew Cheung, Secretary for Labour & Welfare, as Guest of Honour
Every year the Felix Wong Youth Improvement Award is presented to 20 deserving young people who have prevailed against hardship and come through with an inspiring, positive outlook. This year's ceremony is on 6 July in the auditorium of the HKFYG Building at 10.30am, when The Hon Matthew Cheung, GBS, JP, Secretary for Labour & Welfare will grace the assembled company with his presence. June issue of Youth Hong Kong on population policy available next week
The new issue of the Federation's quarterly magazine, Youth Hong Kong, focuses on population policy and the growing responsibilities of today's young people. They will be joining the workforce at a time when the population is ageing and the birthrate is shrinking. Flexible policy for support of dependents, including both the under 15s and the retired elderly, is needed to cope with this scenario. 2013 China Week: the Federation's annual celebration of Chinese culture, with film shows and seminars co-organized by Southern Film Co Ltd
Back to 1942 begins this year's China Week at HKFYG, after a kick-off ceremony at 2.30pm on 3 July 2013 in the 9/F Auditorium of the HKFYG Building. We owe thanks to co-organizer Southern Film Co Ltd, and supporting organizations, CNEX Foundation Ltd, Lee Hysan Foundation, Emperor Movies Ltd and Sundream Motion Pictures Ltd. All films are followed by seminars and the first speaker is Dr Tam King-fai, Department of Chinese Culture Hong Kong Polytechnic University. The films continue at the same venue with A Battle of Wits on 4 July then move to M21 in Shek Pai Wan, Aberdeen for The Piano in a Factory on 5 July and Wong Kar-wai's blockbuster, The Grandmaster, on 8 July. Hang Seng Bank Leaders to Leaders lecture with Professor Francis Lui speaking about Economic Development
On 4 July at 6pm in the Rayson Huang Theatre at the University of Hong Kong, Professor Francis Lui, Head and Professor of the Department of Economics at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, will inspire a young audience by speaking about the fascinating implications of economic development. Youth Business Hong Kong young entrepreneurs inspired by Dr Jimmy Tang on entrepreneurship
On 6 June in HKFYG headquarters building in North Point, over 100 young people aged 18-35 who are interested in doing business or are already running their own companies had a great night listening to Dr Jimmy Tang, MH, Chairman & CEO of Prince Jewellery & Watch Co. The talk was the third seminar in the series entitled Dialogues with Successful Entrepreneurs in the Love Ideas Love Hong Kong Project.
