M21
With technology so much a part of everyday life, the HKFYG Jockey Club Media 21 (M21), an integrated multimedia centre, offers young people a way to unleash their creativity, imagination and innovative spirit.

M21 encourages learning and the gaining of practical experience through fully furnished newsrooms with interview and video shooting studios, radio show production equipment, Mac computers installed with multi-media software with a 27-inch screen for each computer, a cinema equipped with a 188-inch projection screen, stage and control rooms.

Based in Southern District, in an award winning premises, M21 comprises a Media Academy, Media Lab and a Media Counselling service for instant online counselling services.

This is no longer the future of learning, service and experimentation; this is the now for young people!

Charity Auction
HKFYG is organizing a Charity Auction with Lisa's Collection at the HKFYG Museum on 5/F HKFYG Building in early June. Preview: Saturday 8 June, 10am-8pm. Auction: Sunday 9 June, 10am onwards. We are very grateful to Mr Zhou Nanquan and Mr Li Huibing for issuing appraisal certificates for some auction items, and to Sun Ming Transportation Company Ltd for offering discount professional transport. Over 160 pieces of fine ceramics, jade and jadeite, ornaments and jewellery, plus fine and rare wines will be auctioned. Auction premiums received will support services for young people in need. University interview workshop with DSE@27771112 and the Hong Kong Polytechnic University's Hong Kong Community College
HKFYG's exam counselling service for students, DSE@27771112 will co-organize a workshop on the key to successful university enrolment with the Hong Kong Polytechnic University's Hong Kong Community College on Saturday 4 May 2013, 2.30pm-5.30pm. Mock interviews to strengthen interview skills will also be offered. A related series called University First Experience from May to June, in cooperation with tertiary institutions, will then give participants the opportunity to attend university classes, learn about the curriculum and finesse their choice of degree subject. Course for connoisseurs of Chinese arts and jewellery crafts with Mrs Lisa Cheung at HKFYG's Centre for Continuous Learning
This certificate course in Chinese Artefact Connoisseurship will be run by Mrs Lisa Cheung Chung Lai-seung on Saturdays, 4:30-7pm, from 11 May till 1 June, [excluding 18 May]. The course teaches students about antiques and about using antiques to make jewellery with a modern touch. They will also learn how auctions are run and have the opportunity to help organize the HKFYG Charity Auction on 8-9 June, under professional guidance. Opening ceremony of HKFYG Jockey Club Media 21 Saturday 27 April 2013
The Opening Ceremony of the HKFYG Jockey Club Media 21 in M21's uCinema is at 3pm on 27 April. Before the ceremony there will be guided-tours of the centre for all guests and experiential tours for over 100 secondary and senior primary students. The opening will be followed by a week of activities. Highlights include the launch of 7 channels with educational, informative content, tailor-made for young people. They are News, Community, Careers, Culture, School, Go Green and an
Integrated Channel [時事頻道 ,社區頻道, 就業頻道 ,文化頻道 ,學校頻道 ,綠色頻道, 綜合頻道]. There will also be a Youth Short Film Festival in the M21 uCinema till 5 May, featuring videos and films created by youth and talks from well known local directors, Cheung King-wai, Derek Tsang and Heiward Mak Hei-yan. Successful Teen Action initiative runs again in 2013 with Employment Retraining Board
and Education Bureau

HKFYG's annual Teen Action career and life planning programme for secondary school leavers will begin at 3pm on 3 May, with an Opening Ceremony and Career Planning Seminars at the Academic Community Hall, Hong Kong Baptist University. Mr William Leung Wing-cheung, BBS, JP, Chairman of Employment Retraining Board, Ms Virginia Choi, JP, Managing Director, Tamty McGill Consultants International Ltd, and Mr Chiu Tsang-hei, well known music producer, as Guests of Honour. Teen Action is organized by the Federation's Youth Employment Network, with the Employment Retraining Board and the Education Bureau. After the ceremony, Ms Virginia Choi and Mr Chiu Tsang-hei will tell participants, to give talk about their work experience. Project Bridge services for youth with specific learning disabilities
subsidized by the Keswick Foundation Ltd

Project Bridge is a new one-stop support service, subsidized by the Keswick Foundation Ltd. It serves unemployed 15-24 year olds and secondary school students who have been assessed for specific learning disabilities by the HKFYG Youth Employment Network. 8,000-10,000 secondary school students with such disabilities join the Hong Kong workforce each year with unaddressed problems. Project Bridge helps them understand career aptitudes and offers work experience to enhance job opportunities. Its five core services are specialized training, employer education, competency assessment, job matching and professional counselling. Education First offers 5 senior secondary students 2-week sponsored study-tour in Sydney on Step Out Award Scheme sponsored sponsored by Virgin Atlantic
The Step Out Award Scheme, co-organized by the Federation's Youth Employment Network and Education First, and sponsored by Virgin Atlantic, gives 5 secondary school leavers on the brink of building a career the chance of a free Sydney study tour. On 28 April there will be an Award Presentation Ceremony in the HKFYG Building to announce the names of the outstanding winners. This great chance to broaden horizons comes with round trip air fares, tour fees, a series of activities in Sydney and the experience of life in a typical Australian home. Innovation and Technology Scholarship Award Scheme
The Innovation and Technology Scholarship Award Scheme sponsors training for talented young scientists, nurturing and encouraging them to develop skills and research interests. Mr Gregory So Kam-leung, GBS, JP, Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, officiated at the Award Presentation Ceremony for this year's scholarships on 17 April at Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, when 25 outstanding local undergraduates in science-related disciplines received funding of $150,000 for attachment programmes overseas. The scholarships are organized by HKFYG, supported by the Innovation and Technology Commission and sponsored by the Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Ltd. On 27 April the Federations' a cappella group, the Hong Kong Melody Makers, will sing popular Chinese songs of the 80's and 90's in the City Hall Theatre at 8pm. Their purely vocal innovative arrangements of classics will charm you. This is the last concert in this season's successful annual Hong Kong International a cappella Festival, in which there have been 6 concerts, 2 outdoor performances, more than 20 workshops and master classes. Audience numbers have totaled over 20,000 and 6,000 young people have benefitted from the educational sectors of the programme, run with the Hong Kong Jockey club Charities Trust as major sponsor. The Hang Seng Bank - Leaders to Leaders Lecture Series 2013 was launched on 10 April at HKFYG HQ, with Prof Lap-chee Tsui, Vice-Chancellor of The University of Hong Kong, and Ms Rose Lee, Vice-Chairman and Chief Executive of Hang Seng Bank, as Guests of Honour. The theme of the series this year is Changing Trends in China and Hong Kong and the first lecture, by Prof Yuen Kwok-yung, was Passion and Compassion. Other lectures in the series will be Business Development by Mr Jack So, The Flow of Talent Mr Joseph Ngai, The Rise of Middle-Class by Prof Lui Tai-lok, Economic Development by Prof Francis Lui, Equal Opportunities by Dr York Chow and Restructuring of Enterprises by Dr David Wong.
